Edwards Commercial Cleaning celebrates Sustainability Award win
Edwards Commercial Cleaning, founded in 2003, has been named the Environment Award (Large Business) winner at the West & North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce's Raising the Bar Awards 2026.
The Awards celebrate businesses across the region that are making a positive impact in their communities, with the Environment Award recognising the company’s continued commitment to reducing its environmental impact.
The family-run commercial cleaning business, which boasts around 400 employees and operates across the North East and Yorkshire, has made sustainability an important part of how it operates and plans for the future. Over recent years, it has worked to better understand its environmental impact, measure progress and identify where meaningful improvements can be made.
Practical changes across the business have included reducing reliance on single-use plastics, introducing more concentrated and refillable cleaning solutions, improving fleet efficiency and reviewing how resources and waste are managed.
The company's latest Carbon Report recorded a 15.2% year-on-year reduction in gross carbon emissions.
"We're incredibly proud to receive this Award,” says managing director Paul Edwards. “Sustainability is something we've been working hard on across the business, so having that collective effort recognised means a great deal to us.
“There isn't one big change responsible for the progress we've made. It comes from decisions being made right across Edwards Commercial Cleaning, from the products we purchase and the journeys we make to the way our teams work on client sites every day.
“There is always more we can do, and we'll continue looking for practical ways to reduce our environmental impact as the business grows. For now, though, it's fantastic to take a moment and celebrate what we've achieved."
The company has continued to strengthen its presence in Yorkshire following investment in its regional base at The Junction in Horbury, supporting its growing portfolio of clients across the region.
The Award adds to the company's ongoing sustainability work and provides further recognition of its commitment to growing responsibly.
