Dirty hands costs lives

* GOJO_In-Use_Bakery.jpgA leading hand hygiene specialist has designed a new compliance system in a bid to stop foodborne outbreaks which caused 4,356 hospitalisations and 46 deaths in 2009.*

Gojo Industries-Europe is launching a range of colour coded dispensers created to simplify hand hygiene compliance and help reduce cross contamination.

Colours and visuals are used to distinguish the Gojo TFX Touch Free and FMX Manual soap dispensers and Purell hand sanitiser dispensers, along with protocol posters for workers to use as a reference point.

Managing Director of GOJO Industries-Europe, Mike Sullivan, says: "Hand hygiene is an important part of food processing, as opportunities for cross contamination are in abundance. If just one employee fails to follow correct hand hygiene procedure they are putting the facility's reputation and people's lives at risk.

"Colour coding helps to avoid misuse of hygiene products and as a result reduces the risk of cross contamination. Our new programme has been launched with quick and clear messaging which will help educate workers in an industry where current labelling and language used may not be easy to translate or understand.

"Our products combined with support, training and advice on where to place dispensers offers a total solution for the industry."

The new range forms part of the Gojo Hygiene Management System for Food Processing Facilities, which also incorporates the Signol hand wash counter to monitor the frequency of staff hand washing and identify compliance issues. The system is designed to assist managers who are implementing Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point Systems (HACCP).
