Norse wins contract with Suffolk ports

* Port-of-Felixstowe.jpgNorse Commercial Services has been awarded the contract for cleaning at Felixstowe and Harwich ports.

Hutchison Ports, which operates both Port of Felixstowe and Harwich International Port, have awarded the contact starting on 1st April 2012.

The contract covers day-to-day and specialist cleaning at over 100 different locations around the ports, including office cleaning, mess room cleaning, toilet cleaning and periodic deep cleans, plus exterior grounds maintenance.

The services will be delivered by Norse's Suffolk-based operation SCS, which will take on the 55 staff employed by the previous contractor, ensuring continuity of employment in the region.

The new contract augments the existing waste management and street cleansing agreement that Norse has had with Port of Felixstowe since 2007.

"Synergies between the two contracts will facilitate real efficiency gains," Norse managing director Peter Hawes points out, "particularly in terms of recycling."
