UBM Live unites Facilities Show and FM Event for 2013

UBM Live, the organiser of Facilities Show and The FM Event, announced this week that the FM Event will merge with Facilities Show for 2013. Taking place from 14th -16th May at Birmingham's NEC, Facilities Show 2013 is the annual flagship event dedicated to those working across the full spectrum of facilities management.

"We are really excited to announce this new development to our extremely successful facilities portfolio," says Fergus Bird, Group Event Manager at UBM Live. "As the FM market and the role of those working within the sector constantly evolves, UBM Live will continue to adapt our products and services, enhancing our offering to best support this vibrant and vital industry. Investing and strengthening Facilities Show ensures that we can build on the previous success and legacy of both shows, showcasing the latest and most innovative global FM products and services."

The phenomenal growth of Facilities Show in recent years has seen visitor numbers rise 86% from 2009 to 2012 and exhibitors growing from 81 in 2001 to over 300 in 2012, creating a premium event dedicated to providing facilities managers from all sectors with a comprehensive package of need-to-know information.

"The decision to merge these two great events was not taken lightly and followed a lengthy process of research and analysis along with what the FM industry was telling us," says Fergus. "We really felt that the time was right to focus all our energies and expertise on one annual event, Facilities Show. The emphasis on one annual show next year unites the entire industry across the three days, providing one focal point that can meet the needs of the FM market all in one place."

Facilities Show and The FM Event are both held in association with the British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM). Speaking on the merger Gareth Tancred, BIFM CEO says: "By bringing together the Facilities Show and The FM Event, it gives the Facilities Show the opportunity to firmly establish itself as one of the world's leading, and biggest, facilities management trade show events. This is a positive for the facilities management profession, giving a focused platform to unite and come together to share and learn.

"I look forward to BIFM significantly contributing to Facilities Show 2013 and beyond through great education, CPD and networking sessions and to keep building the influence and reach of the Facilities Show."

Facilities Show 2013 will be co-located with the leading annual safety and health event, Safety & Health Expo and the world's largest annual security event, IFSEC. In 2013 the leading event for professionals involved in fire protection, prevention and detection FIREX International will also be co-located. In 2012 Protection & Management Week welcomed 26,853 visitors.

As part of Protection & Management Week, Facilities Show will cater for a wide audience, providing a range of solutions for security, environment, health & safety over the three days, all under one roof.
