Disposables UK opens new state-of-the-art site

* DispUK-team-new-factory.jpgDisposables UK Group, has reached another milestone in its ambitious five year growth plan, with its move into its new 150,000 sq ft state-of-the-art premises in Meltham, Huddersfield.

Disposables UK, which manufactures and distributes paper disposables and associated cleaning and hygiene products for the 'away from home market', officially opened the doors to its new site for the first time last Friday.

Huddersfield Giants rugby star and England International, Eorl Crabtree, kicked off a new era for the company by formally opening the new premises, (Disposables UK is the official home and away shirt sponsor of the popular local team). Local MP, Jason McCartney, was also in attendance to congratulate the team at Disposables.

The company was previously based across four sites totalling 107,000 sq ft an the strategic move to larger premises allows it to consolidate its operations and provide a faster turnaround time on producing goods, allowing it to deliver even better customer service.

The move, which cost in the region of £700,000, is part of Disposables UK's five year growth plan to almost double its current £16m turnover to £30m by 2018. The company has also recently invested £1.7m in new machinery.

"We are delighted to finally open the doors to our brand new site and to celebrate another milestone in our history," enthuses David Burkill, Managing Director. "Manufacturing is at the heart of our business and this move has not only allowed us to streamline our processes, but reinvest in our machinery, systems and people."

The new site has undergone a total refurbishment with an emphasis on the company's ethos of sustainability and the environment.

Carried out in a staggered approach, phase one included the relocation of the distribution centre from its old site, and was completed in March. This was followed by the staged move of production machinery into its new environment, with the relocation of 'goods in' and raw materials following in May. In this way, Disposables has ensured customers are successfully serviced throughout the move period and that delivery deadlines were met, with no loss of the excellent customer service for which Disposables is renowned.

The 7,500 sq ft modern office facilities include a state of the art reception, offices, training room and product display areas. The manufacturing facility has been fully refitted with energy-efficient lighting in an area that encompasses goods inwards, production and finished product areas totalling 150,000 sq ft. In addition, the building has been electrically reconfigured to current standards with the incorporation of in-built Power Factor Correction at source to ensure minimum energy use and increase operational efficiency. The manufacturing facility incorporates new, fully automated production and packaging lines, allowing Disposables to manufacture quality products at prices to meet current and future market demands.
