PASMA launches Tower Week

* T5.jpgIn its first national Tower Week, industry body Prefabricated Access Suppliers & Manufacturers Association, plans to promote not only safety and best practice, but also the benefits of mobile access towers in a growing number of different applications. The week will also provide a snapshot of current tower use to inform future safety campaigns and projects.

Organised nationally - but delivered locally by its member organisations - PASMA Tower Week will see PASMA manufacturers, hire/assembly companies and tower training centres giving demonstrations, running workshops and surgeries, offering on-site health checks and arranging 'ask the expert' sessions.

A dedicated website will be the focus and resource hub for the event. It will host a range of resources, including a diary of events and activities planned by members. Visitors to the website will also have access to a range of guidance and advice, including a free 'Tower Topics' information pack.

Complete with its own logo and collateral, PASMA Tower Week is intended for any company or individual using towers on an occasional, frequent or daily basis. It will, says PASMA, have something for everyone, from managers and supervisors overseeing the use of towers, to those assembling and using towers on a day-to-day basis, including the self-employed.

"Towers are a familiar part of the workplace landscape," says PASMA's managing director, Peter Bennett. "They enjoy a proven track record for safety and productivity and are the natural and logical choice for a great many access tasks.

"PASMA Tower Week will turn the spotlight on this versatile piece of access equipment and give it the prominence and attention it rightly deserves. It will showcase the latest developments in tower design, assembly techniques and safe practice, and highlight why towers are increasingly chosen in preference to other forms of temporary access."

Anyone wanting to find out more about PASMA Tower Week should visit towerweek.pasma.org.uk. With just one click, tower users can access a wealth of practical guidance that can be put to effective use on a daily basis.

A founder member of the Access Industry Forum, PASMA is the world's lead trade association for the mobile access tower industry. Representing the interests of manufacturers, suppliers, specifiers and users, it delivers and oversees the industry standard training scheme and is a major publisher of safety-related knowledge, information and guidance. Liaising closely with all the key regulatory authorities and standards-setting bodies in the work at height sector, it is the voice of the industry and, as such, plays a leading role in promoting best practice.
