Eugen Gutmann GmbH won the Equipment category for the Gutmann Modular System. Its ability to provide an economical and lasting solution for equipping a machine with individual brushes, was the reason given by the judges for awarding this system the prize. "We all need to look at our resources," said the company's managing director Jurgen Belle.

"The idea of this system was to save valuable resources with the long-term multiple use of a separate coupling module," he explained, deftly demonstrating how easy it was to take the components apart and put them back together again. "The disk brush is produced as a consumable with a significantly reduced expenditure for materials, so it can be offered at a very attractive price.

"The coupling has a form-fitted connection to the system's disk brushes. The absolutely play-free connection guarantees the stability of the system and is in no way inferior to conventional disk brushes. If the disk brushes become worn out after many hours of operation (bristle wear indicator) then the complete set of disk brushes including valuable coupling geometries need not be disposed of, as was customary in the past.

Also, if an expensive brush is needed only very occasionally - say once a year in each of a company's many facilities, this system allows that expensive brush to be easily transferred from one machine to another - there is no need to buy several that the user will never get the wear out of."
