My response to my daughter was that this was a great idea and one we’d discussed at British Toilet Association Council meetings when the BTA first launched, as a way of countering the damage caused to people’s freedom by the diminishing numbers of public facilities available to those that need them.

She retorted that with the types of people around today, the washrooms being offered up for public use would quickly become dirty and even vandalised, with disposables either used up or stolen. Sadly, she has a point and I’ve now been persuaded that these companies are already paying taxes and business rates, so why should they further fill the council’s coffers by bolstering up what should be a public service and losing out themselves as a result?

I’d love your thoughts on this please!
