Disposables UK ends year on a high with Business of the Year Award win

* Disposables-UK-win-award.jpgDisposables UK has been crowned 'Business of the Year' at the 2013 Huddersfield Examiner Business Awards, following a hugely successful year for the family-run Meltham-based business.

Disposables UK demonstrated in its submission how, over the past year, the company has overcome difficult trading conditions to grow the business, win new contracts, develop new products and improve operations, in order to beat numerous finalists and scoop the award.

The win marks the culmination of the company's focus on growth and innovation this year, which has seen the company relocate its four previous sites into one large 150,000 sq ft state-of-the-art site in Meltham. Consolidating its operations in this way and providing a faster turnaround time on producing goods, has allowed the company to deliver even better customer service.

The move was part of the organisation's five year growth plan to almost double its current £16m turnover to £30m by 2018 and also included a £1.7m investment in new machinery.

The awards took place last Thursday at the John Smith's Stadium in Huddersfield. Finalists gathered with awards sponsor, Chadwick Lawrence, and leading figures from the district's business community to celebrate their successes.

Upon accepting the award, Emma Wood, Marketing Manager at Disposables UK, said: "We are thrilled to have won the Business of The Year Award and be recognised for our achievements.

"It has been a very exciting year for the company, with the site move and expansion, so this really is the icing on the cake. It is also recognition for the team who strive to make the company a success, both locally and nationally.

"As a leading company in our field, we are proud to have played such a strong part in the manufacturing renaissance of Kirklees and, as one of the largest employers in Meltham, to have had a positive impact on the local economy."

Diane Storer was also recently selected as a finalist in the Forward Ladies Women in Business Awards 2013. Diane was recognised in the Manufacturing Business Woman of the Year category, for her role as chairman of Disposables UK, the company she formed 26 years ago with her late husband, the highly popular Trevor Storer.

Disposables UK manufactures and distributes paper disposables and associated cleaning and hygiene products for the 'away from home' market.
