Ochsner Health System chooses RL solutions for infection surveillance

RL Solutions, creator of easy-to-use healthcare quality and safety software, announced this week that Ochsner Health System in the USA has successfully deployed RL6:Infection, RL's infection surveillance system, throughout its eight facilities.

RL6:Infection will help Ochsner to prevent the spread of healthcare-acquired infections and to support its ongoing antimicrobial stewardship, hand hygiene compliance and infection prevention initiatives.

Ochsner Health System is a No. 1 ranked hospital in Louisiana and was nationally ranked in eight medical specialties, according to US News & World Report's 2013-14 Best Hospitals rankings.

RL6:Infection is a comprehensive infection surveillance solution that provides real-time surveillance of a hospital's systems, including lab, ADT, pharmacy, surgery, EPR and radiology. By identifying the information that is critical to prevent HAI, RL6:Infection saves Infection Preventionists valuable time so they can focus on the programmes that truly make a difference. RL6:Infection also extends to the pharmacy by providing antimicrobial stewardship functionality, and allows IPs to conduct hand hygiene audits on-the-go with tablet- and smartphone-ready audit capabilities.

Ochsner decided to partner with RL Solutions for infection surveillance for a number of reasons, including RL6's mobile capabilities, the affordability of the system, its short implementation timeframe and because the system allowed Ochsner to retain all of its data onsite. In addition, since Ochsner also utilizes RL6 for incident reporting, its hospitals can automatically flag identified HAI as incidents for the risk management department to investigate.
