Browned off? Fibrebuff's the stuff!

* fibrebuff.jpgBrowning to carpets caused by water damage or tea and coffee staining can be a struggle to shift.

Prochem Europe's long-standing solution, B162 Fibrebuff, now available in 1Kg containers only, is an acidic powder additive for use with B151 Oxbrite and B105 Fibre Shampoo to remove browning stains or clean water damaged carpet.

You just mix 60ml (4 measure scoops) with 30ml (2 measure scoops) of Oxibrite (an oxidising additive for white, off-white and pastel coloured fibres and fabrics) and 250ml of Fibre Shampoo per five litres of warm-hot water, before applying the mixed solution by sprayer or rotary shampoo machine. You then brush the affected areas and leave to dry.

For carpet stains and fabrics, you apply just the foam using a sponge or natural fibre brush. For further improvement, a second application may be necessary.

"For best results, do not extraction rinse, says the manufacturer. "And do bear in mind that Oxibrite produces controlled 'bleaching' and therefore should be used with caution on all fibres. As always with these things, do pre-test carpet or fabric for colour fastness before proceeding."
