ISS to become facility services provider for Swisscom

* swisscom.jpgSwisscom, leading Swiss telecom provider, has chosen ISS Switzerland as its new provider of facilities management services throughout Switzerland from 1st January 2015, following a tender process.

ISS will be taking over both infrastructure and technical facilities management for an overall portfolio comprising approximately 90 office buildings and 1,000 operational buildings with a total area of around 1.2 million square metres.

With a view to strengthening its own expertise in the information and communications technology industry segment, ISS Switzerland will take on the 220 operational staff from this area, who currently work for Swisscom or its previous provider Johnson Controls.

"We are delighted to have been awarded the facility management mandate by Swisscom, and would like to thank the company for the trust it has placed in us," says Andre Nauer (pictured below, left), Country Manager of ISS Switzerland.

"We are already the Swiss market leader in integrated facility services, and this new mandate will also enable us to significantly enhance our expertise in the ICT sector. We will be taking on the 220 operational staff who previously worked for Swisscom to reinforce our own extensive know-how in the ICT market. This step will also enable us to guarantee a high degree of continuity, and to join forces in ensuring that Swisscom receives services that are best in class.

By reissuing the mandate to a company that is well-established in Switzerland, Swisscom is aiming to increase its flexibility and freedom of choice, guarantee consistent quality for all the properties spread throughout Switzerland and improve economic efficiency. ISS Switzerland was able to convince the panel of judges in a multi-stage selection process with its clear strategy, skilled management and clear process-based approach. The overall portfolio comprises office buildings, operations centres, data centres and small properties.

Mario Rossi, Swisscom's CFO, says: "With ISS Switzerland, we are convinced that we have chosen a highly professional provider that will be able to rely on extensive experience in the global ICT business. By awarding the mandate to this established provider in the Swiss market, we are also ensuring that the value generated remains within the country."
