Bunzl expands in UK
Bunzl has made four further acquisitions in the UK with aggregate annualised revenue of £34.8 million.
The company acquired 365 Healthcare at the end of June. Based in Droitwich, the business is engaged in the distribution of mainly own brand healthcare products, principally operating theatre drapes and gowns, procedure packs, disposable surgical instruments and dressings, to a variety of customers including hospitals, GP practices and private clinics. Revenue was £10.9 million in the year ended 31st December 2013.
At the end of July, Bunzl purchased the Cheltenham based Premiere Products cleaning & hygiene supplies distribution business of The Premiere Polish Company. The business provides a variety of both own brand and branded cleaning & hygiene products to customers throughout the UK, particularly those serving the facilities management and education sectors. Revenue in the year ended 30th November 2013 was £6.0 million.
Finally, the company acquired two safety businesses at the end of July. Lee Brothers Bilston, which had revenue of £8.7 million in the year ended 31st December 2013, supplies a variety of mainly branded personal protection equipment and workplace consumables to customers largely in the construction and engineering sectors. Guardsman, which is based in Leicester and had revenue of £9.2 million in the year ended 31st July 2014, is engaged in the sale of a variety of safety equipment and workwear, both branded and own brand, to customers in various manufacturing industries as well as the construction and engineering sectors.
"365 Healthcare has expanded our product offering of medical consumables to the healthcare sector while Premiere Products has extended the breadth of our own brand product offering and has further strengthened our cleaning and hygiene supplies business," notes Michael Roney, Chief Executive of Bunzl.
