Golden Service Awards opens to showcase cleaning industry excellence

The Kimberly-Clark Professional Golden Service Awards programme is now open for entries. The awards are designed to provide contract cleaners and in-house cleaning teams the chance to showcase the excellent work undertaken in the cleaning industry.

Founded in 1991, the bi-annual awards have grown to become the industry's most illustrious event, attended by over 500 representatives from the cleaning and FM industries. 2015 will see the event move to a new venue, The London Hilton Park Lane, with over 600 guests expected to attend the event on Friday 23rd October, hosted by comedian and actor, Jon Culshaw, with one of Britain's most famous voices, Alan Dedicoat, as Master of Ceremonies.

With 23 awards up for grabs, categories encompass education, healthcare, retail, shopping malls, manufacturing, transport hubs, hospitality, public service and office premises. The full list of categories can be found at www.goldenserviceawards.co.uk

The entry process for 2015 has been simplified with a new online form available to download from the website www.goldenserviceawards.co.uk. To enter, this form must be completed and submitted with all contact information and confirmation of certificates, membership of trade associations, training programmes, Investors in People as well as health & safety procedures.

To assist with the application process, there is a downloadable PDF called 'How to enter', www.goldenserviceawards.co.uk which includes useful information on the awards, the judging process as well as hints and tips, and frequently asked questions.

The next step of the application process is to send the following documents to [email protected]:

- 1000 word submission
- A client testimonial (1000 words)
- Cleaning operative submission up to 500 words (optional for categories 1 - 14)
- Supervisor submission up to 500 words (optional for categories 1 - 14)

The information completed online and the submission sent by email will be collated and judged at the paper judging stage which will take place once the entry process closes on Monday 31st March.

The British Institute of Cleaning Science BICSc will again be judging the awards and this year is also overseeing both the paper judging and site visits to ensure uniformity and fairness.

The paper judging involves reviewing each entry and the finalists from this stage will be announced in C&M. A list will also be featured on the website at www.goldenserviceawards.co.uk from late May.
The second stage involves site visits for the majority of the awards, which will take place during June and July.

"The judges will be judging standards achieved and not just whether the specifications for the entry are followed," says Stan Atkins, chief executive officer, BICSc. "Quality, innovation, staff training and the client relationship are among the main criteria which will be assessed. It is not the size of your business that's important, but the quality of the service provided."
