Staples Disposables’ ‘Away From Home’ divisions to be taken over
Staples Disposables, one of the leading independent UK paper convertors, has entered a partnership that will see the ‘Away From Home’ divisions - which consist of hygiene paper, catering disposables and professional cleaning chemicals - taken over on 19th June and split into ‘Staples Away from home’ and ‘Staples Chemicals.’
Staples has a long established history in paper converting and chemical blending; the company has been trading for over 40 years and is a founder member of the CHSA soft tissue standard.
In letters being sent to Staples’ customers tomorrow, managing director Andrew Staples states:
“This decision has taken a considerable length of time and this is a positive step forward as it will provide our current partners and distributors with greater opportunities to grow the product range they are able to supply their end user customers.
“Over the last few years Staples Disposables’ business has changed considerably and its subsidiary Consuma which supplies private label & branded facial tissue, kitchen towel & toilet rolls into the retail sector continues to grow. This growth has been achieved through significant investment in the manufacturing plant, which has been required to meet the strict conditions required by the major retailers. To allow the business to concentrate on this area the decision has been made to find partners that can develop our Away From Home divisions.
“The Hygiene & Catering divisions of Staples Disposables will now be called ‘Staples Away From Home’. “The partner we have chosen to take over these divisions is Poppies Europe which has a rich history in the manufacturing of napkin products and a large manufacturing plant with specialist machines to convert the full table top range and hygiene products. They have also heavily invested and have the latest equipment to convert the full paper hygiene range, which includes centrefeed wipers and toilet tissue products.
“All products, codes and pricing will remain the same along with lead times.
“The Chemical division of Staples Disposables will be called ‘Staples Chemicals’. The partner we have chosen to take over the division will be the Cleenol Group. As one of the largest independent chemical blenders in the UK with a history going back to the 1700’s, Cleenol is an innovator in the chemical field and offers an extensive product range coupled with unrivalled technical support & training. To ensure continuity the same products, codes and pricing will be used, along with all bespoke labels.”
Andrew goes on to explain that between now and 19th June, when the takeover completes, customers should continue placing all orders with Staples Disposables and continue to use the same product codes and pricing. Delivery lead time will remain 3 - 5 working days for all products.
“We have put in place a handover period to ensure all distributors’ questions are answered and that detailed information can be provided in regards to how orders will be processed after 19th June,” he continues.
“Staples Away From Home will cover all products within the catering, hygiene & wet wipe divisions. Products include centrefeed rolls, jumbo & mini jumbo toilet tissue, hygiene rolls, all napkin and associated products.
“Staples Disposables will continue to work alongside our partners for the foreseeable future.”
