Welcome to the
Cleanzine - the original Cleaning & Hygiene industry e-news Read by industry professionals in 148 countries worldwide! Pulire 2013 opens today at 10.00 and - if the last event in 2011 is anything to go by, it's going to be very busy until the doors close this evening at 18.00. But don't worry... if you can't make it today there's always tomorrow and Thursday (same opening hours throughout) to explore this exciting exhibition and conference which has been running for 30 years. Last time around I felt that even with a full three days, we couldn't get around to see everything we would have liked to, or attended even a handful of the many conference presentations that were of interest, so if you do have time to be here for the duration it will certainly be time well spent. However, if you can only make it for a day or can't attend at all, the Cleanzine team will try and bring you a flavour of what's going on here with the official Pulire 2013 Daily which will be winging its way to you every morning for the duration of the event... Please get in touch either by emailing me or posting a comment on our Facebook page. www.facebook.com/Cleanzine Yours, This Week's News
Pulire is the largest professional cleaning industry trade show in Italy and it enables visitors to explore the latest developments in a complete range of machinery, chemical products, equipment and components for professional cleaning and hygiene and talk to those who know how to get the best out of them. Some 300 exhibitors have taken more than 16,000 m2 of display space, set out over four halls, so there really is an awful lot to see here. As one would expect from an event promoted by AfidampFAB (The Italian Association of Professional Cleaning Equipment, Machines & Product Manufacturers) and organised by Afidamp Servizi, commercial and operative arm of AfidampFAB, in association with Verona Fiere, it is very well organised, well laid out and easy to navigate. Naturally, it is the only place in Italy to be right now if you have any interest at all in cleaning! The organisers tell us that this event - the 21st in the series, is the culmination of their efforts to create a show that would give maximum exposure to the best of the Italian cleaning industry's offerings, as well as those of companies based in other countries. They have certainly succeeded. Pulire is now a leading exhibition in this sector and the ideal place to discover and discuss both new products and equipment and the latest market trends, whilst networking with like-minded industry colleagues from around the world. An important aspect of this, is the international expansion of the Pulire brand, with trade shows taking place in Spain, India, Turkey, Russia and Asia, all organised by Afidamp Servizi in conjunction with local partners and the industry associations. The shared objective is to offer invaluable opportunities for meeting others with the same interests and objectives. The show, which has been steadily evolving to suit market needs, introduced two changes last year that proved successful with exhibitors and visitors alike so have been continued for 2013. These were as a result, noted Toni D'Andrea, Managing Director of Afidamp Servizi, of taking on board suggestions made by associates and previous exhibitors and adapting the show accordingly. They included moving the show to May, to promote business opportunities before the Summer holidays and changing the format and the length of the event. Another show enhancement that proved successful and which is being continued this time around, came in the form of 'Club Pulire', which enables previous exhibitors to meet with their colleagues, their competition and customers to network and build relationships, away from the hustle and bustle of the main exhibition stall. This year saw the launch of Pulire 2.0, an 'interactive event' available on smartphones and tablets which has two applications: one for exhibitors and one for visitors. We understand that the entire catalogue is online with assigned QR codes, which will facilitate what has been described as a match-making system for managing appointment books and agendas as well as the real time monitoring of visitors arriving at the show, so interested parties will know when others have entered the halls and be able to make contact. "In an increasingly more connected society, Pulire uses the newest technology so that the trade show does not end after the three days of the event. It is prepared ahead of time and survives after the doors close. Pulire 2.0 is a place of constant meeting, real and virtual, for an open, interactive exchange between supply and demand of professional cleaning," say the organisers. It sounds like a great concept and we'll be able to tell you more once we've experienced it for ourselves. This year also marks the 8th edition of the Pulire Innovation Awards, an initiative promoted by AfidampFAB in collaboration with Afidamp Servizi Srl. John and I are delighted to have once again been invited to join the judging panel and are excited about shortly being able to examine the shortlisted products first hand, try them out for ourselves and speak to the people that designed and built them. Look out for our reports on each of these over the coming days as well as news of the winners once they've been chosen. "The aim of these awards is to pay tribute to the introduction of creative solutions and entrepreneurial ideas that have developed within the professional cleaning and environmental hygiene field, through the designation of products with the highest level of innovation," say the organisers. Verona is a city of rare beauty, encompassing thousands of years of ancient history but with a city centre enjoying economic and commercial modernity sitting beautifully with typically Roman historical architecture, which is preserved along with the medieval, Renaissance, Venetian and Austrian buildings that are available for everyone to admire. In 2011, (after the show had finished of course!) John and I spent a never-to-be-forgotten few hours exploring the incredible 14th century Castelvecchio which stands by the Adige River beside the Castelvecchio bridge. Unlike some museums, this one allowed us within touching distance of the most captivating sculptures, statues, paintings, miniatures, ancient weapons, ceramics, goldworks and ancient bells. I'd be happy to return this time, but there's so much else to see. It's simply enchanting... and the lasagne served on Piazza delle Erbe is delicious! Surrounded by a lovely hinterland, with good quality hotels and top gastronomy, excellent services and structures, it is an ideal place for a working holiday. We've established why you should be here, so how do you get here? The exhibition centre is at Viale del Lavoro, 8 - Verona. This beautiful city is at the crossroads of the Venice (115 km) - Milan (160 km) motorway and the Brennero (220 km) - Bologna (140 km) motorway and can be easily reached by road or rail. The exhibition centre is about 3 km out of the city centre, and a few minutes' drive from the Verona sud' exit (Venice-Milan motorway). A dual carriageway connects the exhibition centre to the local Airport Valerio Catullo. If you're flying in, as John and I did, getting to the exhibition centre from the airport (about 9 km) is simple: * If you've hired a car: Take the ring-road (tangenziale) towards Villafranca. Follow the signposts for Verona Sud motorway exit and then follow the signpost for Fiera. You should be there in about 10 minutes. * Bus-navetta: A shuttle bus (line 99 APTV) connects the airport with the exhibition centre via the railway station - travel time is about 20 minutes. From the Railway Station a quick bus (lines 21-61-83 AMT) reaches the exhibition centre and costs approximately €6.00 Shuttle bus: A FREE shuttle bus connects the city centre with the exhibition centre. Buses run every 15 minutes from 07.30 - 10.30 and from 16.30 - 18.30. It stops at P.Za.Bra (in front of the Palazzo Gran Guardia) - Corso Porta Nuova (Camera Di Commercio) - Via Scopoli. * Taxi: This takes about 10 minutes and costs approximately €20.00. The exhibition is being held in halls 2, 3, 4 and 5 and as well as outside between halls 2 - 4 and 3 - 5. You will need to use the 'Cangrande' entrance. Admission is free of charge to those who've pre-registered. The Pulire office, courtesy of Exhibitor Service & Technical Assistance, is located inside the gallery between halls 4 and 5.
