Welcome to the Cleanzine - the original Cleaning & Hygiene industry e-news Read by industry professionals in 163 countries worldwide! This is issue 662 of Cleanzine – the equivalent of some 55 years-worth of broadcasting when you compare it with magazines that issue only every month! Circulation for our first issue 13 years ago comprised around 4,500 UK contacts John and I had built up over our many years in the cleaning industry, together with contact details of members of UK-based industry associations, whose CEO’s and National Executive Committees and General Secretaries could see the benefits of a weekly source of industry-related information, delivered free-of-charge to their members’ inboxes. We now have 100,000-plus readers – far more than we envisaged back when the Internet was in its infancy and we still naively regarded the coastline as a barrier. For although we initially set up to ‘cover’ the UK, we soon noticed foreign readers subscribing – we now have more than 20,000 in the US alone - and before long learned that thanks to us, an advertiser was about to ship his first pallet-load of chemicals to Croatia in what I understand was the start of a long relationship. And right from our first ever issue, we’ve been supported week in, week out, by Newhaven-based Brightwell Dispensers, whose Neale Pybus liked our plans and had enough confidence in our ability to deliver, that he pledged his support without hesitation. That is until two weeks ago when we inadvertently managed to omit Brightwell’s ad due to a server blip… I don’t generally mention companies in my leader but thought that under the circumstances I ought to herald the fact that Brightwell’s ad is now back in pride of place, heading up the ads in the centre column! We like to rotate ads to give everyone the chance to be at the top, but Brightwell’s slot has always been non-negotiable. And I’d like to thank Brightwell and our other advertisers – many of whom are also long term supporters, for helping us pay the bills. We couldn’t have done it without you! And of course we also need editorial – not just from the UK but from all 163 countries that Cleanzine is received. If you’re proud of your products and/or services, please let us know about them so we can tell our readers; a simple email may just help your business skyrocket too!
