Also writing for the kitchens, bathrooms & bedroom sector as I do, there are lots of exhibitions I can attend ‘for work’ that others attend out of pleasure; events such as the Ideal Home Exhibition, the May Design Series, Taste of London and Grand Designs Live, to name just a handful. These shows are fun to attend and I feel blessed; combining work with pleasure fools me into thinking I’m not actually working at all and there can’t be many people who can say that about their job!
I also receive some wonderful press invitations and when a company rang yesterday, asking if I’ll be able to attend a rather exciting launch, I was delighted. Then I discovered that it clashes with a cleaning show I’ll be attending and I had to decline…
Was I disappointed? Not at all!
The show in question is Pulire – taking place from 19th – 21st May in the beautiful city of Verona and if you’ve never attended the event (or visited Verona) I can thoroughly recommend it. The show itself has a real international flavour and there are always lots of new products to examine and people to meet. It’s incredibly well organised and as one might expect from an Italian event, it feels somewhat relaxed and upmarket, with wide aisles allowing space to saunter and offering the chance to discover something you might otherwise have squeezed past and missed, as well as the feeling that there’s plenty of time to ‘do business’.
And then there’s the food… Coming from the busy halls where we’re learning about new technology, and into one of the beautiful, ancient squares, where we sit outside and enjoy a drink and a meal with our industry friends… well – it’s not work, is it?
If you want to find more out about exhibiting or attending, visit: www.afidamp.it – and if you’re not able to join us in Italy, we’ll be able to bring you a flavour of the event (if not the food!) in the official daily broadcasts we’ll be producing on behalf of the organisers.
And if you are exhibiting, do please send me your press information as soon as you can, so we know what to look out for when we arrive.
Please get in touch either by emailing me or posting a comment on our Facebook page. www.facebook.com/Cleanzine

Kimberly-Clark Professional has launched GreenHarvest products, a cutting edge offering that incorporates rapidly renewable plant-based fibre, such as wheat straw and bamboo, into Kleenex and Scott brand towel and tissue products.
The manufacturer say it is the first major towel and tissue manufacturer in North America to introduce products made with 20% plant fibre in place of tree fibre or recycled fibre, and that the move required the development of an entirely new supply chain to directly obtain wheat straw from US farmers and the creation of a first-of-its-kind manufacturing process for converting plant fibre into pulp.
Since their inception in early 2015, the CleanSeal and EnviroSeal accreditation programmes have received a strong and positive reaction from the carpet care sector, as The WoolSafe Organisation continues to team up with leading brands to increase confidence and credibility in those products tested and approved.
CleanSeal certification provides carpet cleaning product manufacturers with the opportunity to gain third party recognition for the quality of their products. To have achieved this mark of excellence products must have demonstrated both their safety and cleaning efficacy, and if also boasting a low environmental impact, they become eligible to be passed on to the EnviroSeal testing stage.
Rapid hygiene and food safety testing systems manufacturer Hygiena, has been awarded Performance Tested Methods Certification by the AOAC Research Institute for MicroSnap Total - a test claimed to be the first to detect and enumerate total aerobic bacteria and give results within a working shift.
MicroSnap Total is a small, simple, low-cost detection system that detects down to 1-10 bacteria in seven hours, while detecting high numbers in as little as one - two hours. It can be applied to raw materials, finished products (solid and liquid) and environmental samples.
With some 150 days to go before the start of CMS 2015 Berlin - Cleaning.Management.Services, Messe Berlin reports that preparations are making very good progress. "Almost all the available hall space has already been reserved," says Dr. Christian Goeke, chief executive officer of Messe Berlin GmbH.

Polaris Plastics has revolutionised the dispensing of its refuse sacks with the launch of the eSack range, designed to keep both the environment and efficiency at the forefront. The messy flat packed systems that have dominated the market for the past 30 years could well be a thing of the past, as more and more people adopt this new technology.
Polaris Plastics is currently on the road launch this new eSack system to distributors.
Seen by the cleaning industry as recognition of the highest standards among cleaning products in Asia, the China Clean Expo Awards 2015 took place in Shanghai at the beginning of the month with the winners of each category announced below.
Winning these awards not only helps companies promote their products, it also increases product awareness, boosts global sales and gives companies greater opportunities to participate in a series of similar marketing and promotional opportunities throughout the year.
Distributors are turning to members of the CHSA's Manufacturing Standards Accreditation Schemes for soft tissue products, plastic refuse sacks and industrial cotton mops to obtain greater transparency in their supply chains.
Dave Bruce, director of DJB Cleaning Supplies, argues that companies marketing their products without showing the specifications are undermining the industry and could be costing the end user up to 40% more.
A brand new, unique, online course in domestic and residential cleaning is now available. This course is also perfect for guesthouses, bed and breakfasts, small hotels and holiday homes, where a high standard of cleaning and appearance is expected without question and the lack of good cleaning can ruin the reputation and break the business.
The course is certified and accredited to The Cleaning Masterclass, where all the tutors and course developers are professional cleaners and cleaning consultants with many years (20+) of practical and professional cleaning experience in a very wide range of industries.
