Jangro, the UK's largest network of independent janitorial suppliers, is launching the first ever distance learning programme for the cleaning industry at the Cleaning Show. Jangro's 'Learning Management Solution' enables you to educate your cleaning staff anywhere, anytime, at a fraction of the cost of traditional training methods. The suite of training modules offers something for all. New staff will choose from basic modules, which introduce the PH Scale or explain COSHH requirements. Experienced staff will select from more in-depth courses, such as the Floorcare module, which provides an immense amount of knowledge regarding how to achieve best results on every kind of floor.
"Today's cleaners are generally very reliable and well built, but whether they will function on any particular day depends largely on the quality and state of their batteries," argued PowerCell's Managing Director Derek Anderson.
A complex mix of largely unintentional factors means that some employers offering low-skilled work see migrants from elsewhere in the EU as more suitable for employment than UK born workers. This is one of the conclusions of a new study published today by the CIPD, alongside policy recommendations and a warning that employers need to safeguard their long-term skills and talent mix by continuing to provide support and entry level opportunities for young job seekers. Welcome to the
Cleanzine - the original Cleaning & Hygiene industry e-news Read by industry professionals in 148 countries worldwide! There has been a real buzz on the floor of the hall this last two days. Most exhibitors are commenting on the quality of the visitors, indeed we ran a photo the other day of three buyers jointly representing purchasing power of over £50M ! The days are past when some came only for the freebies and a day off from work; there are serious people out there now. Emma Wood from Disposables UK told us that they had almost 200 good leads over the two days so far - and she wasn't the only one telling us a similar story. Yes the show is smaller and 'perhaps' there are fewer visitors (we won't know until the official audit after the show) but there is confidence rather than despair. Much of the talk is about the move in 2015 to London's Excel. What do you think? Is the lure of the capital going to be enough to prompt a visit when maybe you haven't come along this time? Please get in touch either by emailing me or posting a comment on our Facebook page. www.facebook.com/Cleanzine Yours, This Week's News
Connect Hygiene: at the heart of a new £50M business Announcing a new force in the away-from-home paper market! Formed from the amalgamation of Connect Hygiene Products and Peter Grant Papers, Northwood Hygiene Products will be operating under its new name from July this year. Headed by Chris Wickham and his management team, the operation - which will have a combined turnover of nearly £50m, will be a clear number three in the UK away-from-home disposable paper market, with a 15.0% volume share. Like the majors the new company will benefit from being both a converter and a manufacturer... John and I (and many others) were delighted to see that Anglian Chemicals are back exhibiting at the cleaning show and we were equally delighted to learn that business is going very well indeed! BMP is a global company specialising in the manufacture and conversion of polyurethane elastomers, technical nonwoven textiles and mechanical systems for use in applications ranging from digital printing to industrial cleaning equipment. Centrego (Toucan Eco) introduces the Fogger We may be wrong but Centrego seems to save up its new products for launch at The Cleaning Show... In 2011 it was the Innovation Award-winning Toucan Eco that was stopping us in our tracks; this time around it's the Toucan Fogger (pictured here with Centrego's Oliver Weisflog) and the Toucan Mini (also pictured) - a smaller version of the Eco - which, like its older, bigger brother, has won an Innovation Award. Disposables UK unveils new products Disposables UK is using The Cleaning Show for the launch of a range of new products. A regular at the Show and occupying its usual position at the entrance to the hall, the Group's brands will be on show en masse and will include 'never seen before' products. Florence and the machines strike at Truvox: Stand E20 New marketing co-ordinator Florence Summers and marketing manager Natalie Dowse, told us that they have been kept very busy throughout the exhibition, by stand visitors wanting to know more about the benefits of using Truvox machines. The ISSA's business services executive EMEA region Leah Lister, originally from Chicago but now living in Liverpool, is hoping to increase ISSA membership by talking to show visitors about the benefits of belonging to this global association. Osprey to supply lightweight 8 bar steam cleaner John and I have always been impressed with OspreyDeepclean products and when we were at Pulire, Verona last year, we were stopped in our tracks by the machines on the Maxima Advanced Solutions stand, so perhaps we shouldn't have been surprised to see Giuseppe Codemo (left in picture) with Thomas Stucken and learn that they have struck a deal! Soluclean introduces a first of its kind in toilet cleaning and descaling Soluclean's stand has been very busy throughout the show, with visitors keen to learn more about the company's eco-friendly and easy-to-use range of pre-dosed concentrated surface cleaning products encapsulated in fully water-soluble sachets. One of the latest product innovations is the Daily Toilet Cleaner & Descaler, which sales director Jon Horton says is the first of its kind in the cleaning industry. Founded in 1964 by Henry and Barbara Unger in Solingen, Germany, Unger Enterprises, Inc. is an international company with offices in the US, Germany, China and the UK as well as manufacturing facilities in the US, Germany and India. Globally acknowledged for revolutionising the window cleaning industry over the past 40 years with modern squeegees and telescopic poles, the company continues to innovate and expand its product lines. Unger HiFlo nLite, already a winner of an ISSA/Interclean Chicago 2012 Innovation Award, is a category winner in this year's Cleaning Show Innovation Awards too. Tersano (International) Srl introduce ozone cleaning Although the sanitising power of ozone (O3) has been known about and utilised since the early 1900's, it was not until Tersano was able to re-engineer the technology for commercial use that the full cleaning, sanitising and environmental benefits were realised. The British Cleaning Council's Doug Cooke (left) and Mark Woodhead, have been out on the exhibition floor talking to visitors and exhibitors and finding out how people are enjoying the show. Andrew is leaving for pastures new - or is that flying the coop? - as he is about to join the poultry industry. Having first met Andrew at another cleaning industry show in Amsterdam some years ago, we wish him all the best for the future. And a warm welcome to Melissa. The Cleaning Show is her first opportunity to meet the industry at large having taken up her new post just recently.
British Cleaning Council : Stand H52 The Cleaning Show is jointly owned by the British Cleaning Council and representatives from several of the member organisations are on the stand to tell you more about their associations and why - as a service provider or supplier, you should join them and why - as a buyer or specifier of goods and services, you should seriously consider using a member of a reputable association rather than anyone else. The UK Cleaning Products Industry Association (UKCPI) told us it is offering a membership 'special' at the Show. For the first time, prospective members will be offered their first six months of membership to the association for free, when they sign up at the show. Cleaning Show visitors can find out more and pick up a membership pack at the stand. Philip Malpass, director general of UKCPI, said: "As the lead trade association for our sector, UKCPI delivers robust industry representation to politicians and officials, offers guidance and advice to members, and provides the industry's authoritative voice on a range of issues to the public, opinion formers and the media."
