Pulire 2013

* visitors from a previous show are eager to get into the halls.jpg
Pulire is the largest professional cleaning industry trade show in Italy and it enables visitors to explore the latest developments in a complete range of machinery, chemical products, equipment and components for professional cleaning and hygiene and talk to those who know how to get the best out of them. Some 300 exhibitors have taken more than 16,000 m2 of display space, set out over four halls, so there really is an awful lot to see here.

As one would expect from an event promoted by AfidampFAB (The Italian Association of Professional Cleaning Equipment, Machines & Product Manufacturers) and organised by Afidamp Servizi, commercial and operative arm of AfidampFAB, in association with Verona Fiere, it is very well organised, well laid out and easy to navigate. Naturally, it is the only place in Italy to be right now if you have any interest at all in cleaning!

The organisers tell us that this event - the 21st in the series, is the culmination of their efforts to create a show that would give maximum exposure to the best of the Italian cleaning industry's offerings, as well as those of companies based in other countries. They have certainly succeeded. Pulire is now a leading exhibition in this sector and the ideal place to discover and discuss both new products and equipment and the latest market trends, whilst networking with like-minded industry colleagues from around the world.

This year saw the launch of Pulire 2.0, an 'interactive event' available on smartphones and tablets which has two applications: one for exhibitors and one for visitors. We understand that the entire catalogue is online with assigned QR codes, which will facilitate what has been described as a match-making system for managing appointment books and agendas as well as the real time monitoring of visitors arriving at the show, so interested parties will know when others have entered the halls and be able to make contact.

"In an increasingly more connected society, Pulire uses the newest technology so that the trade show does not end after the three days of the event. It is prepared ahead of time and survives after the doors close. Pulire 2.0 is a place of constant meeting, real and virtual, for an open, interactive exchange between supply and demand of professional cleaning," say the organisers.

It sounds like a great concept and we'll be able to tell you more once we've experienced it for ourselves.

Day one of the show got off to an encouraging start with the turnstiles spinning from the outset and queues of visitors who were clearly regretting not having taken advantage of the online registration system prior to the event. Bet they won’t leave it so late next time!

As the show is clearly going to be a busy one, John and I thought it best to start off by visiting all the finalists of the Innovation Awards to ask for a demonstration of each shortlisted product, so we’re in a better position to help decide the winner on Thursday morning. We feel it’s a big responsibility as we’ll be helping shape the future of cleaning, so it’s important that we get it right.

This Week's News

Karcher

Karcher-solar2.jpgKarcher actually has two products in the Innovation Awards special exhibition area but during our visit to the stand we discovered that they combine to form what the company’s David Wickel described as a “System approach” which also includes other products. Very clever it is too.

RCM

RCM.jpg

Also being considered for an award is RCM’s Eco Sanitizing scrubber, which is eco-friendly and saves money. Export Area Manager Celio Franch, told us:

“RCM’s Eco Sanitising system is for the professional sanitisation of floors. It reduces 97% of bacteria, eliminates the cost of separate sanitisation, reduces cleaning costs, partially or totally reduces detergent use and increases operator safety.

Enjoying his work…

RCM-chef.jpgEnjoying a break from his usual work was Claudio Pramazzom – known this week as ‘Chef Claudio’ as he’s there to cook up tasty morsels for his hardworking RCM stand colleagues and their guests. He served us with some local delicacies with aplomb and very tasty they were too!

Diversey

Diversey-gripper.jpgDiversey’s Antonella Rosina said she believed that this was the only no-touch, double sided mop system on the market. We were impressed by the rather novel fixing system in as much as instead of the more usual Velcro, it has plastic spines coming out at an angle from the plastic frame. These spikes are forced outwards when the mop is applied to the floor and they catch on the mop head and hold it fast.

Nilfisk

Nilfisk3.jpgLaunched at the show, this VL500 series wet/dry vacuum cleaning machine has been built to simplify cleaning for women. Its beauty is in the pivot system designed to make emptying easy; it uses the weight of the head to provide the gravitational pull required to tilt the drum to the angle needed to drain the contents. It makes cleaning faster, safer and less tiring for the operator.

Fimap

Fimap.jpgWe couldn’t find out very much about the Hybrid ride-on machine as those familiar with its features and benefits had taken a party of visitors to visit the Fimap factory for the afternoon.

Marketing manager Caterina Compri did agree to pose for us however and she said that it was all very comfortable…

Sutter Professional

Sutter-training.jpgSutter Professional’s shortlisted Connect Training Solution was cheerfully demonstrated to us by Chiara Traverso and it is very easy to understand and use.

Connect enables cleaners to learn their trade remotely, eliminating the need for them to take time away from their work. They can study at their own pace and there’s a fun ‘games’ section which allows them to test their skills and discover whether they really know their stuff! If they get an answer wrong they have to reassess the problem and try again. They can’t continue until they’ve got it right, so the training is pretty thorough.

Ar-co

Leonard.jpg“Infyniti represents the most up-to-date concept when it comes to concentrated detergent refills,” said Christian Ardizzono from Arco.

“In fact, from a simple unit-dose, it’s possible to obtain all the possible combinations required in terms of common traditional products for the hand and machine cleaning of floors, windows and furniture and for the sanitisation of bathrooms.

SRI

Cotton1.jpgDespite the bright and eyecatching stand and the cheerful welcome from Olivier Foret and Bertrand Clausel, we couldn’t help but think, when they poured oil on a display board and filled a cup with what looked like wet sand, that this was just another spill absorbency kit. And when they said: “There’s no need to worry about the quantity of product you tip onto the spill,” we assumed it wasn’t very eco-friendly either! It soon became clear that we were completely wrong…
