Jangro, the UK's largest network of independent janitorial suppliers, is launching the first ever distance learning programme for the cleaning industry at the Cleaning Show. Jangro's 'Learning Management Solution' enables you to educate your cleaning staff anywhere, anytime, at a fraction of the cost of traditional training methods. The suite of training modules offers something for all. New staff will choose from basic modules, which introduce the PH Scale or explain COSHH requirements. Experienced staff will select from more in-depth courses, such as the Floorcare module, which provides an immense amount of knowledge regarding how to achieve best results on every kind of floor.
"Today's cleaners are generally very reliable and well built, but whether they will function on any particular day depends largely on the quality and state of their batteries," argued PowerCell's Managing Director Derek Anderson.
A complex mix of largely unintentional factors means that some employers offering low-skilled work see migrants from elsewhere in the EU as more suitable for employment than UK born workers. This is one of the conclusions of a new study published today by the CIPD, alongside policy recommendations and a warning that employers need to safeguard their long-term skills and talent mix by continuing to provide support and entry level opportunities for young job seekers. Hospital cleanliness plays a role in the spread of HAIs, which are caused by microorganisms such as Clostridium difficile, MRSA, Carbapenem-Resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE) and Acinetobacter baumannii. Hospital cleaning teams are not able to disinfect all the surfaces in patient rooms in the allotted time, with research showing that more than half of the surfaces remain untouched. Some superbugs such as C. diff are showing resistance to disinfectants, making them even more difficult to eliminate. Others, such as CRE, have developed a resistance to antibiotics, making them nearly impossible to treat. Landfill still the answer for most, despite EU recycling target

Welcome to the
Cleanzine - the original Cleaning & Hygiene industry e-news Read by industry professionals in 148 countries worldwide! Although we don’t have the official visitor numbers, The Cleaning Show 2013 got off to an excellent start yesterday with everyone we spoke to saying they’d picked up some excellent leads over the morning alone. John and I agreed how refreshing it was to see lots of new companies taking up the stands and Martin Scott and his team deserve to be congratulated for the efforts they’ve made to fill the halls with so many new faces – and of course new products and equipment, some of which are very exciting. The first thing we learned upon arrival is that the next edition of this biennial event – The Cleaning Show 2015 – is to be held at the ExCel centre in London, which again should attract some new blood and may just pull in some more exhibitors and visitors from overseas who wish to combine their time at the show with a day or so taking in some of the delights of the Capital. Please get in touch either by emailing me or posting a comment on our Facebook page. www.facebook.com/Cleanzine Yours, This Week's News
Jangro triumphs in Innovation Awards As well as winning its category in the Innovation Awards, Jangro scooped the overall winner's trophy for its new Smartphone app which breaks down many of the barriers that prevent cleaners from being properly trained. Its new distance learning programme, called ‘Learning Management System’ (LMS).enables contract cleaning companies and organisations that directly employ cleaning staff, to train every employee on a range of specific cleaning tasks for only £0.99p, per person, per course. And the category winners were... Woolsafe, Oemachem, Delphis Eco, ICE/Cleanfix, PTS Clean, Centrego, Addguards, Miele Professional, Mac International, HTC, Connect Hygiene and Unger. We'll be bringing you details of their winning products later this week, when we've had a chance to look at them all and talk to the manufacturers. Neil Nixon, Chair of the judging team which included Stan Atkins, Doug Cooke, Maureen Marden, Michael Poulter, John Stinton, Paul Thrupp, Bob Vincent and Lynn Webster, said that it was very difficult to pick the winners from a superb selection of finalists, showing some real innovation, and singled out Addguards for a special mention. We've never quite come across this term before by someone referring to their exhibition stand but having seen how busy Dean Smith and the relatively new Sales Manager Europe, Ewout de Lange, and the team had been every time we walked past Stand E80, we could understand perfectly what Dean meant! Hydro Systems Europe shows new prototypes Hydro Systems Europe’s Alistair Blair-Davies talked us through the attributes of the two new prototypes on the stand – one offering flexible dispensing and dosing and the other being a lower cost version of the company’s top performing foaming system – both of which should be available within the next few months. He said feedback from visitors to the stand had been good. Well… when you see someone that looks like a burly rugby player, wandering around a cleaning show looking miserable and dressed in a tight, bright pink tutu, you just have to go and investigate, don’t you?
So why was he dressed like that? “I’m the cleaning fairy,” he confessed. And from one cleaning fairy to another... ...visitors coming into the show via the main entrance were given free samples of Fairy Extra Clean washing up Who said our local authorities were having their budgets cut to the bone? These three ABCD members, (from left) Mark Herring from Nottinghamshire, Kim Phillips from Rotherham and Simon Hollingbery from Reading have some £50,000,000 to spend between them, reports ABCD General Secretary Pat Maloney (not pictured). Brightwell Dispensers launches Eco Mix and Eco Shot So the secret is out… Brightwell is launching a new range of chemical dosing and dilution systems, Ecomix and Ecoshot, as Suzanne Gardent, pictured, explained. “Economix is a proprtioner,” she explained. “Connected to mains water, it creates a vauum and dilutes a pre-determined ratio of chemical into a final solution, ready to use. Ecoshop is a manual dosing system, dosing a specific volume or shot of concentrated chemical into a spray bottle, bucket or sink. Although different systems, the two provide an efficient, flexible, on-site system, which enables the user to create ready-to-use chemicals from concentrates. Numatic International: everything new Show visitors may be so familiar with the cheeky face on Numatic’s world-renowned range of tubvacs that they think there’s nothing new going on at the company- but that couldn’t be further from the truth as the company’s Jonathan Evans explained. Indeed some 90% of what was on show was actually new – and there were even some impressive tweaks to Henry and his family, news of which we’ll be bringing you over the coming weeks. Environmental Hygiene Products shows NHS approved waste bins This manufacturer had cleverly used some of the material it uses for its sack holders to make the desk on its stand, tying the whole thing together nicely. Pasante Healthcare launches Dizolve detergent sheets Although we didn’t meet him last time around, Pasante’s Sales Manager UK Retail & Export, Paul Tudor, told us that he’d had such as successful show in 2011 that he’d booked a stand that was twice the size for 2013. And how had he done? “It’s been really busy,” he said. “I’ve taken about 20 good leads already – not bad for a morning’s work!” We met outgoing head of the Cleaning & Support Services Association, Andrew Large, along with new Media & Policy Manager for the British Cleaning Council, Melissa Higgs. Andrew is leaving for pastures new - or is that flying the coop? - as he is about to join the poultry industry. Having first met Andrew at another cleaning industry show in Amsterdam some years ago, we wish him all the best for the future. And a warm welcome to Melissa. The Cleaning Show is her first opportunity to meet the industry at large having taken up her new post just recently. General Manager Robert Kreicberg, who hails from Sweden, talked us through the way the Innovation Award-winningTwister floorpads operate and said that the most important part of his job had been building the brand and educating users on how to use the new technology without causing blips in the service they were providing to their customers. He said that one of the things that had been the hardest was persuading them that the pads are not just for natural floors but for all types of floors. British Cleaning Council : Stand H52 The Cleaning Show is jointly owned by the British Cleaning Council and representatives from several of the member organisations are on the stand to tell you more about their associations and why - as a service provider or supplier, you should join them and why - as a buyer or specifier of goods and services, you should seriously consider using a member of a reputable association rather than anyone else. The UK Cleaning Products Industry Association (UKCPI) told us it is offering a membership 'special' at the Show. For the first time, prospective members will be offered their first six months of membership to the association for free, when they sign up at the show. Cleaning Show visitors can find out more and pick up a membership pack at the stand. Philip Malpass, director general of UKCPI, said: "As the lead trade association for our sector, UKCPI delivers robust industry representation to politicians and officials, offers guidance and advice to members, and provides the industry's authoritative voice on a range of issues to the public, opinion formers and the media." Greyland customer survey - results are in!
Yes, the Greyland annual Customer Survey has been evaluated for 2012 and despite all that could have happened (but didn't) during their move a year ago, the overall consensus is that Greyland service is 'Excellent.' Of those who returned their Customer Survey forms, none thought that they needed to use another supplier alongside Greyland, the reason being given was that the company scored highly for value for money and service (PS Greyland is the only cleaning chemicals manufacturer that offers a 4 day turnaround on orders - next day if you need it really fast!). |
